HI, this is Kevin. Just wanted to update everyone about our night. I took Austin to the ER last night at 8:30 because he was having a lot of trouble breathing. We got there, and they rushed us right in without even doing any registration. Austin has a case of croup, and it was making it extremely difficult for him to breathe. They gave him a breathing treatment and steroids to try to reduce the inflammation in his airway. The breathing treatment helped a lot, but within a couple of hours, he was starting to wheeze again and so they decided to admit him.
About that time, Kelly was able to come to the ER after she had gotten Nathan settled into bed and her mom came over to sit with Nathan. We finally got to a room about 1:15 am (that's right, almost 5 hours with a 21month old in the ER). Kelly sent me home to get some sleep about 2:00. Sometime after I left, his oxygen level dropped too low, so they stuck him in a croup tent.
Kelly has been at the hospital all night, of course not getting any sleep, trying to comfort Austin as much as possible through the croup tent. They will probably keep him at least one more night, possibly more. We appreciate any thoughts and prayers that you can send Austin's way. We will keep you all updated as much as we can. Thanks.
Oh no! I just emailed you all back and had no idea about all of this. I am so sorry. I hope all is better today. Was this Wednesday night then that he went in. You are all in my prayers. Here's to a FAST recovery. Please update us all soon.

That is so scary! I hope he is doing better today. My friend was in the hospital 2 days last week with her 2 yr old for croup also. It is going around up here (MN) all over the place. Kids are getting colds and croup. My son who is 5 was up Mon night with a croup type cough, but from what I hear older kids get over it easier the younger ones have trouble with breathing. From what I hear, it passes pretty quick. hope it does for you guys!
