This past weekend was the BEST! Kevin and I had some alone time with a date night (GASP!!!) on Friday night, on Saturday we spent a lot of quality fun time with the boys and on Sunday we spent a lot of quality time visiting with loved ones. Sometimes you just have to say to hell with all the housework that needs to be done. Life is too short.
On Friday night my mom and brother volunteered to watch the boys for a couple hours so Kevin and I could spend some time together. We decided to go out for dinner and have a couple drinks. We ended up going to a local Pizza and Mexican restaurant (I bet you never would have guessed that one huh?!?). I ordered the chicken fajitas and Kevin ended up getting the chicken chimichanga. Talk about huge portions. We ended up leaving some food back, it was way too much to eat. We also got a half pitcher of margaritas to share. That happens to be my favorite drink! We were like two high school kids. We were so loopy. And it wasn't because of the alcohol we were just SO HAPPY to be on a date together. It was so nice having a real adult conversation without Nathan getting mad at us for talking. It was so nice being able to take our time with our meal. It was so nice not having to keep two little boys entertained and happy while we ate. It was so nice to go to the restaurant with only a purse in hand. No diapers. No wipes. No bottles. No toys. Nothing. Of course we talked about the boys while we were gone and wondered how they were but that 2 hours together was so wonderful!
On Saturday we took the boys to the local library here for the first time. It was so weird to be back at the library that I spent so many hours in as a child and teenager. It's so wonderful being back home! Nathan and Austin had a blast playing with the few toys and animals they had there and Nathan LOVED picking out several books. We can't wait to take him back in a week or so.
On Sunday we spent a lot of time with my grandma and aunt. They made us turkey chili for lunch and it was really nice to visit with them for awhile, especially knowing that home was just 5 minutes away not 2.5 hours away.
It was the PERFECT weekend! I wish every weekend could be like this past one. But that isn't reality, is it? We will remember this weekend for quite some time.
Austin is getting better and better with the whole walking thing. I had forgotten just how cute it is when babies are just learning to walk. I could watch him all day long (oh wait I do). Austin is now able to walk the entire length of the room. Nathan gets really into it as well. He mimics us and says, "LOOK LOOK!" in a really happy way, just like mommy and daddy do. It is so funny, he tries to walk like baby too, to get his own attention I guess ;)
I can't believe Austin's 1st birthday is less than a month away. We haven't even decided on a theme let alone buying the invitations and other birthday supplies. That is our priority this next weekend.
THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH to EVERYONE who left supportive comments and sent me supportive emails regarding the harassment matter. I have decided for now to NOT password protect. The minute I get one nasty comment that will change everything. If I do have to password protect only my close Internet friends will receive my password information. There is NO way to know if some of my "delurkings" are friends with the person who felt like causing trouble. That means the person who left nasty comments and who checks my blog all day long will no longer be able to get into my blog. It was SO WONDERFUL to hear from you all, I had no idea I had so many readers. I am truly honored and humbled. I would LOVE to hear from you all more often! :)
I am still working on my Mother of the Week answers and my version of my weekend with Jennifer. Life keeps getting in the way.
