Drumroll Please

I finally have my new URL address and blog name. The new address is http://kelly.typepad.com/kelly, or you can click here. If you don't put the /kelly at the end, you will actually go to my old blog (the one you are reading right now). If any of you have links to my blog (in your blog or in favorites), please make the change to reflect the new url address and blog name. Sorry for any confusion, I promise that I won't do it again ;). When you have a chance, please let me know that you made it to my new site. Hope to see you all there.

Thanks again,
Kelly

Thank You For Your Patience!

Good Lord, I think I have finally decided on the look and style of my blog. Gee, I only went through a million different looks in a matter of a few days. Thank you for your patience if you have been seeing my ridiculous changes unfold on a daily sometime hourly basis. I hope to change my blog name and url address this weekend. I will post the new name and url on here when it finally happens. I promise I am not totally crazy, okay - maybe a little bit. Here are the name contenders so far -
Open Arms (thank you Cara!)
Mom on a Mission (thank you Amanda!)
A Woman Finding Her Way
The Mom Wonders
The Woman Wonders
The Woman in Me
This Woman's Life
KellySpot
Keeper of the Stars - song reference
The Dance - song reference
Take Me Away
Lifes A Dance
The Mom Chronicles
It Was No Accident (thank you Kevin! This is the very beginning to our song, "Keeper of the Stars" )

I think that is it. I could really use your help on the decision :) Who knew a damn blog could be so hard? LOL! When I check my stats, it says my daily average number of hits is around 150, is there really that many people checking me out? I would LOVE to hear from more people! Be sure to give me some advice on my new blog names!

Thanks!
Kelly

The Seven Deadly Stereotypes of Motherhood

The Seven Deadly Stereotypes of Motherhood

Mothers & More created a list that included the 7 most common deadly stereotypes of moms - here is the list -

Bon Bon Eating Mom
Stay-at-home moms don't do anything all day but watch TV and eat bon bons.
Stay-at-home moms are loving and nurturing but their brains are mush.

Career-Crazed Mom
Working moms are selfish careerists who neglect their kids.
Working moms are competent and intelligent but cold and uncaring.

Supermom
Supermom is the perfect nurturing mom - always attentive to the kids, doesn't miss a school event, bakes the brownies from scratch -- plus the Do-it-All Mom is the perfect professional career woman -- always available for work, stays on the fast track and makes it to CEO - plus she has a perfect marriage, perfect sex life and perfect kids.

24/7 Bliss Mom
Good mothers love every minute of it, never feel ambivalent, never have a bad day, never yell at their kids, and are always smiling, relaxed and in control.

Martyr Mom
Good mothers always put their family's interests ahead of their own.
Good mothers do not have their own needs and interests, and do not seek their own fulfillment.

Glam Mom
Good mothers are glamorous; young, attractive, perfectly fit, designer dressed, perfectly coiffed - and so are their children.

Domestic Goddess Mom
Good mothers love to do housework, are obsessed with cleaning.
Only mothers are capable of housework.
Good mothers have a spotless house and do everything from scratch; home-cooked meals, perfect birthday parties, and crafts.

What stereotype do you think the world sees you as? Which one can you relate to the most?

Without a doubt, the world sees me as a bon bon eating mom who has it easy and who has no career ambitions of her own. Of course, I know this isnt true (taking care of two children just barely over 2 years of age 24/7 is no walk in the park) but to be honest this ridiculous sterotype, is just about the hardest part of being a stay at home mom for me. I see myself in many of these stereotypes, let me think about that one.

A Work In Progress

As you can probably tell by my blog, its still a work in progress. I am still trying to come up with a good name that I wont want to change in the future (thank you to those who gave me some great ideas!). I decided to upgrade to the middle plan so I have more options to use. I would use the same url as before since it was just www.kelly.typepad.com but by default my original title of Diary of a Stay at Home Mom was inserted at the end of my website url address for different template folders and when I change my blog name for good I don't want to have "diary of a sahm" anywhere in my website url. So I will probably have to make a clean start soon. With the middle plan, you can have up to 3 weblogs on your account, so I can probably keep my old one (this one) up for quite awhile so I dont confuse anyone. Whenever, I do make a new one, I will post the info on this blog so people know where to find me.....okay now that I have probably really made no sense at all - I will go ;) Still thinking of a new name and url address :)

Learning As I Go (With Blogs That Is)

Ok, I am definetly learning as I go with this whole blog thing. I am thinking about starting all over again. I got to thinking and I don't plan, nor want to be a stay at home mom forever, so why should my blog be called that when I actually do plan on having this blog indefinetly. I don't want to loose too much of my blog in the future when I am no longer a SAHM so I thought I better think about changing it now instead of a year from now when I have even more entries that I will loose. Is this making any sense at all? Now I just have to come up with a catchy blog title that doesnt mention stay at home mom....uummmm..... my subtitle will probably be the same. I promise to not do this again ;) I don't want to loose any readers out there! Any thoughts on a good and catchy title? If I use your creative idea - I will definetly give you props for it on my new blog :) I wont be changing it for several days, both boys are sick, which means I am busier than I normally am. Now I just need to figure out how to close this blog out while still being able to post on it one last time to give everyone the heads up on where my blog went and what the new name is...... ugh! I will also mention it on iParenting incase not everyone sees my decision to change my blog and blogname.

Hope this makes some sense!

Kelly
